Jose Ignacio is a dynamic composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. A distinguished graduate of the Berklee College of Music, where he received a full-tuition scholarship, Jose specialized in Film Scoring and Clarinet Performance. His studies deepened his expertise in composition, arranging, orchestration, and music technology, alongside improvisation, harmony, and jazz language.
Further honing his craft, Jose pursued a master’s degree in Media Scoring and Production at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. There, he expanded his knowledge of production, mixing, mastering, and video game scoring, reinforcing his foundation in film scoring.
Throughout his career, Jose has scored a diverse array of projects, including short films, video games, applications, television shows, cartoons, and a feature film. His most notable scoring works include composing music for a Nintendo Switch game, a series of animated stories for the International Justice Mission, and crafting the entire soundtrack for an interactive storytelling app for children, among other exciting projects.
He thrives on the challenge of capturing the right tone, mood, and color for each project, showcasing a wide palette of sounds and versatility across various musical styles. Additionally, he has produced songs for a variety of artists, including an Afro-Dominican jazz EP showcasing his original compositions. His production work also includes mixing and mastering the Spanish version of the original song for the International Pathfinder Camporee and orchestrating multiple pieces for full orchestra for the Cordoba Family, among other projects.
On stage, Jose has performed alongside renowned artists and ensembles, touring internationally in countries such as Germany, France, Spain, the Czech Republic, Mexico, and Haiti. His collaborations include performances as a featured soloist with celebrated musicians like Paquito D’Rivera and Berta Rojas, as well as work with Aida Cuevas and Greg Phillinganes. Jose has also toured with orchestras such as YOA, OJCA, and OSNJ, showcasing his talents on principal clarinet, Eb clarinet, saxophone, and as a soloist.
Jose believes that music is a lifelong journey, where hard work and dedication can lead to any aspiration. Outside of music, he is passionate about fine arts, having studied drawing and painting for several years. In his spare time, he enjoys creating personal artwork, including drawings and portraits, further expressing his artistic vision.
